NEW DELHI, June 29: At least six people were killed and 15 others injured, some critically, after a chariot came into contact with an overhead high-tension wire in India's northeastern state of Tripura on Wednesday, officials said.
The incident took place in the Kumarghat area of Unakoti district, about 120 km northeast of Agartala, the capital city of Tripura.

According to officials, the chariot, carrying deities as part of a religious procession, was being pulled by numerous devotees when the accident happened.
The injured individuals have been admitted to a government hospital. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the accident.
