Case filed against former CAO Sapkota for attempted bribery

Sapkota, who was under investigation by the commission regarding a complaint related to the purchase of machinery in Kanchanpur, visited the office of the investigation officer. There, he handed over an envelope containing Rs 100,000 in bribe money.

KATHMANDU, Jan 10: A case was filed at the Special Court on Thursday against Dhruba Prasad Sapkota, the then Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Mellekh Rural Municipality in Achham, for attempting to bribe officials at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).


Sapkota, who was under investigation by the commission regarding a complaint related to the purchase of machinery in Kanchanpur, visited the office of the investigation officer. There, he handed over an envelope containing Rs 100,000 in bribe money. When questioned by the investigation officer, Sapkota said that he had voluntarily brought the money to settle the case.

The commission filed a case against Sapkota on Thursday, asking Rs 100,000 in fines, said Spokesperson Narahari Ghimire.
