Carpet worth Rs 5 billion exported in first five months of current FY 2024/25

The United States remains the largest importer, accounting for Rs 2.83 billion in carpet exports. Other major destinations include China (Rs 616 million), Germany (Rs 300 million), and India (Rs 250 million).

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: Nepal has exported carpets worth approximately Rs 5 billion in the first five months of the current fiscal year 2024/25, according to the Department of Customs. By mid-December, 246,404 square meters of carpets worth Rs 4.96 billion had been shipped abroad.


This marks a substantial increase compared to the same period last year, when exports totaled Rs 4.5 billion. The United States remains the largest importer, accounting for Rs 2.83 billion in carpet exports. Other major destinations include China (Rs 616 million), Germany (Rs 300 million), and India (Rs 250 million).

The UK, Italy, France, Australia, and Belgium are also significant markets, with additional exports to over 50 countries including Dubai, Canada, Switzerland, Austria, Brazil, Latvia, and the Maldives.
