KATHMANDU, Oct 11: Nepal has exported electricity worth Rs 7.54 billion to India in the first two months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) exported 1.02 billion units of surplus electricity generated during the rainy season in Shrawan (mid-July to mid-August) and Bhadra (mid-August to mid-September) after meeting domestic consumption.
The NEA exported electricity worth Rs 3.99 billion in Shrawan and Rs 3.55 billion in Bhadra. In Shrawan, a total of 492.86 million units of electricity were exported to India.
Nepal exports electricity worth Rs 8.32 billion to India
In Bhadra, 536.29 million units of electricity were exported. The average export rate for electricity over the two months was Rs 7.33 per unit. The average rate for Shrawan was Rs 8.11 per unit, while in Bhadra, it was Rs 6.62 per unit.
In the first week of September, the highest electricity export was recorded at Rs 995.5 million. The lowest export occurred in the third week of August, with an export value of Rs 690.8 million.
