CAAN imposes Rs 10,000 fine on AOAN President

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has decided to impose a fine of Rs 10,000 on Rameshwar Thapa, president of the Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN).

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has decided to impose a fine of Rs 10,000 on Rameshwar Thapa, president of the Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN).


Jagannath Niraula, spokesperson for the CAAN, said that the authority decided to levy a fine after Thapa did not respond to an explanation asked by the officials of the CAAN.

According to Niraula, the authority had asked Thapa, the owner of Smirk Air, for an explanation as Thapa had made statements and printed news materials affecting air and flight safety.


There has been a dispute between President Thapa and the CAAN regarding matters such as the night flight schedule implemented by the CAAN and setting flight hours during monsoon.
