Bomb blast at NC office in Dhangadhi

MAHENDRANAGAR, Feb 14: An unidentified group on Friday night detonated a bomb at Nepali Congress office here in Dhangadhi.



The “pressure cooker bomb” went off at midnight Friday causing some damage to the staircase and a toilet door. The bomb also damaged three windowpanes of the National Dalit Network just opposite to the building. [break]



The building is some 300-meter away from the local police unit.



Police had difficult time tracing the exact place of the explosion. A police team mobilized soon after the explosion was able to identify the blast site only in the morning.



No one has owned up the blast.



Superintendent of Police Uttam Bahadur Singh said an investigation is under way and they are searching for those involved in the blast.



Meanwhile, Kailali district chapter of the NC has denounced explosion. Organizing a press conference at the party office on Saturday, the party said the explosion was carried out by anti-democratic elements.



Some 15 rights organization based in Mahendranagar have also denounced the bomb explosion at the party office.
