KATHMANDU, April 20: Birgunj Customs Office has collected more than Rs 100 billion in revenue in the current fiscal year.

From mid-July to mid-April of the current fiscal year, the office has managed to collect a revenue equal to Rs 114.16 billion. The Department of Customs had set a target of collecting Rs 181.99 billion in the first  nine months of the current fiscal year.

The customs office has collected Rs 67.82 billion less revenue than the target. Prakash Subedi, Information Officer of Birgunj Customs Office, said that the revenue target could not be achieved due to the impact of the global economic recession. He said that the decrease in the import of vehicles and fuel has affected the revenue collection.
