Biratnagar stunned Region No 5 Nepalgunj by 37 runs and Kathmandu thrashed Region No 2 Birgunj by 95 runs.
Nepalgunj was forced to play with nine players after two regulars Keshari Chaudhari and Binu Budha Magar opted to join Nepal Police Club’s athletics squad. Other Nepalgunj players were absent due to SLC exams. The team management said there will be no problem now onward as remaining other players have joined the team Saturday.
Electing to bat, Biratnagar posted 60 runs in the stipulated 20 overs losing all its wickets with Ambika Budhathoki and Rubina Chhetri topscoring at 11 runs each. Skipper Nary Thapa took four wickets for Nepalgunj.
In reply, Nepalgunj could muster only 26 runs in 7.4 overs with player-of-the-match Rubina Omen taking six scalps for Biratnagar.
In another match, Kathmandu thrashed Birgunj by 95 runs. Kathmandu piled up 140 runs in 20 overs losing six wickets after deciding to bat. Gita Chudal topscored with 32 runs and Nima Tamang contributed 27 runs. Kirti Mandal and Usha Bhujel took two wickets each for Birgunj.
Birgunj never looked comfortable while chasing the big target and was bowled out for paltry 45 runs in 14 overs with six of the batters failing to open their account. Indira Gurung was the highest scorer for Birgunj with eight runs.
Gita Chudal was adjudged the player-of-the-match for her 32 runs and five wickets. Nira Rajopadhyaya and Sarita Magar claimed two wickets each for the winning team.
