While the UML can recommend members for two seats in the special committee, the party´s general secretary Ishwar Pokharel has been serving as one of the two members since its formation. [break]
Earlier, former prime ministers Jhalanath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal were ex-officio members in the committee during their tenures. Rawal has been recommended for the same seat.
"The meeting decided to recommend Bhim Rawal as a UML member in the special committee because he has been involved in the peace process talks in the past as well," UML Vice-Chairman Ashok Rai told Republica.
The meeting has also decided to defer the party´s central committee meeting, which was scheduled to commence on October 13, for the third week of November.
Leaders said they chose to postpone the meeting of the party´s all-powerful body saying that they couldn´t complete the spadework for the meeting due to the Dashain festival.
"We realized that we need further discussions over the issues in the standing committee and politburo prior to discussing the issues in the central committee," said Rai.
