KATHMANDU, June 4: Bhatbhateni Group is set to establish a state-of-the-art garment industry in Bhairahawa. The foundation stone for the garment factory, to be set up within the Bhairahawa Special Economic Zone (SEZ), was laid on Wednesday by the Bhatbhateni team, including businessman Umesh Shrestha.
Chairman of the group, Min Bahadur Gurung, performed the bhoomi puja and laid the foundation stone for the industry on the same day.
“This new project marks a significant step in the diversification of Bhatbhateni’s business operations, while also conveying a positive message about Nepal’s improving industrial environment,” said Bhatbhateni COO Panu Paudel.
Bhairahawa SEZ still doesn't have electricity supply
The factory aims to create around 1,200 jobs, primarily benefiting the local workforce and contributing to the region’s economic development.
The facility will be built to international standards, equipped with modern machinery, health and safety systems, and a clean environmental setup. It will also feature a solar power system generating over one megawatt of energy, supported by battery storage.
According to Paudel, the factory will mainly produce ready-made garments for both the local market—via Bhatbhateni stores—and international markets.
“This project is not only a part of our broader strategy to boost local production, market expansion, and employment generation, but it is also expected to serve as a model for Nepal’s evolving industrial policies and improving investment climate,” Paudel added.
