KATHMANDU, March 3: Late Bharat Mohan Adhikari, former deputy prime minister and four-time finance minister, was cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat in the capital with state honors on Sunday afternoon.
The three daughters of Adhikari lit the funeral pyre. Earlier today, the government decided to perform the final rites of Adhikari with state honors.
Adhikari, 82, passed away on Saturday evening. He was born to Ram Chandra Adhikari and Purna Kumari Devi as the couple’s youngest son on Baishak 22, 1993 BS.
Adhikari introduced the Afno Gaun Afai Banau program to develop villages across the country.
