KATHMANDU, Aug 3: The Bhaktapur District Court on Monday rejected a police request to keep medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai in custody, ordering that he be released.
The District Police Range, Bhaktapur, had produced Prasai before the court through the Office of the Government Attorney, seeking permission to remand him in custody for seven days. The court, however, denied the request and refused to extend his detention.

Prasai was arrested from his residence on Sunday night by the District Police Range, Bhaktapur.
Meanwhile, his wife, Uma Prasai, filed a habeas corpus petition with the Supreme Court on Monday, challenging the legality of his arrest.
