Banke sending medicine to diarrhea-hit districts

NEPALGUNJ, July 17: Medicine is being dispatched to various districts in the Far-Western Region from Nepalgunj to treat diarrhea patients.



Diarrhea has been raging in Jajarkot, Doti, Humla, Rukum and some other districts for more than three weeks, claiming lives of over 100 people.



Chief District Officer of Banke Birendra Baniya said drugs collected from Mid-Western Regional Medical Store and private clinics have been brought at Nepalgunj Airport and officials are sending them to diarrhea-affected areas.



More organizations have united to support diarrhea patients, he said, adding that various government and NGO bodies have been offering financial assistance and medicine.



In Jajarkot alone, more than 27 health camps have been set up to distribute medicine. Apart from Jajarkot, medicine is being distributed to patients in other districts too in camps.
