KATHMANDU, Sept 1: A status of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) that included a photo of UML Lumbini Province Assembly Member Rekha Sharma has been removed from the facebook page of Mayor Balen.
On Sunday evening, Mayor Shah had posted a status questioning UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli about why Lumbini Province Assembly Member Sharma was not arrested after being involved in child labor exploitation. The status has been removed from Mayor Shah's Facebook page.
PM Dahal removes facebook status on directives given to finance...
He wrote on facebook page, “She is CPN-UML provincial assembly Member Rekha Sharma. She has been keeping a girl hostage for the past eight years, and has been abusing her in the name of a domestic worker as well as beating her on a daily basis. The government has not arrested her even after the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has reported the case, asking the government to proceed with action against her for the past two months. The court has also directed that a case should be filed. The honorable Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli, good governance means that when the court directs to act, you should indeed act. Your leader and member of provincial assembly, Rekha Sharma, who is involved in a child labor exploitation case, should be taken into custody as directed by the court. Perhaps for you, good governance means shedding crocodile tears and expressing condolences on Facebook after the girl's death and making an announcement of Rs 100,000. When will you arrest her? Or will you not?”
Although Facebook has removed this post, most likely after it was reported by a lot of UML cadres, the post remains on X (formerly Twitter).
