KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has removed a facebook status in which he gave directions to the finance ministry to take action against those airport customs officials who had seized a mobile phone brought by a Nepali returning from abroad for personal purposes. Dahal removed the status after an hour of posting it on his official Facebook page.


PM Dahal’s status read, “The Prime Minister's Office has directed the Ministry of Finance to immediately take necessary action regarding the concerns and complaints raised by the public in the incident that caused a problem at the Tribhuvan International Airport while bringing an extra mobile phone for personal purposes while returning to Nepal from abroad. The Prime Minister has instructed to remove the necessary political and legal complications for the convenience of Nepalis who have gone abroad for employment to bring two mobile phones with them when they return.

Earlier, On Monday, the customs authorities at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) had seized mobile phones brought from abroad by passengers for personal purposes. A mobile phone of Dudlal Nemwang from Jhapa, who returned to Nepal from Texas (US), was seized by the customs official at the TIA on Monday for bringing an extra mobile phone besides his own.


PM Dahal had instructed the Ministry of Finance to take immediate action on the matter through his official Facebook page at 1PM on Tuesday.
