Baidya to retire

KATHMANDU, July 19: Taekwondo ace Sangina Baidya is all set announce retirement on Sunday. She started her career in Taewondo since 1991 and is the first Nepali player to qualify for Olympics. [break]



She qualified for the Athens Olympics 2004. Sangina, working as a senior coach of the National Sports Council (NSC) now, is also the gold winner of Asian Taekwondo Championship 1996 and two times SAG gold medalist -- 1999 Kathmandu and 2004 Pakistan.



Set to announce her retirement Sunday, she will also be awarded with a car -- Toyota Yaris by the Baidya Organization. She will be the third national player to be awarded a car. Earlier, footballers Upendra Man Singh and Hari Khadka were awarded with a car each.
