HETAUDA, March 24: Bagmati Province’s Chief Minister (CM) Shalikram Jamkattel received a vote of confidence from the Bagamati Province Assembly on Friday.
In the voting, he received 67 votes in his favor. While 17 provincial assembly members voted against him, seven members chose to stay neutral. In the 110-member provincial assembly, 91 members took part in the voting.
The Bagmati PA has 37 members from the Nepali Congress followed by 27 from the CPN-UML, 21 from the CPN (Maoist Center), 13 from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, seven from the CPN (Unified Socialist), three from the Nepal Workers and Peasants' Party while two represent Hamro Nepali Party.
As the RPP and UML decided to withdraw their support to the Jamkattel-led government, he had to seek a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly as per Article 188 (2) of the Constitution.
