Bose and other Dalit community members were enforcing transportation band on Tuesday to pressurize for safeguarding Dalit rights in the new constitution. DSP Prem Bahadur Basnet, said that Sharma was beaten up by cadres of Dalit community for riding motorbike during transport strike. Sharma was seriously injured and was taken to Pokhara for treatment."The injured had to be taken to Pokhara for treatment as it wasn't possible to provide him proper medical treatment here," said CDO Shekh Narayan Poudel. "We'll not be intimidated. Actions will be taken against all those who are involved in the incident," he said.
Bose was taken into custody suspecting his connection with the incident. However,
Tak Bahadur Bohora, chairman of Dalit Utpidit Samudaya, refuted the claims stating that Tuesday's transportation strike was peaceful and that the police intervention and subsequent arrest was unnecessary. Dalit community members have demanded immediate unconditional release.
Due to the banda transportation and educational institutions remained closed on Thursday.
