KATHMANDU, Sept 7: With Dashain and Tihar festival around the bend, automobile dealers have rolled out lucrative festive schemes to attract customers.

Leading brands like Hyundai, Bajaj and UM have already come up with festival schemes, while Japanese automotive brand Datsun is announcing its festive campaign very soon.

Automobile dealers offer benefits ranging from cash discounts to gift hampers in their schemes. They announce attractive schemes before Dashain-Tihar festive season as around 20 percent of their annual sales come during this season.

“Money flow is high during festive occasions. Automobile brands prefer to introduce schemes before festivals to boost sales to cash in on good flow of money in the market,” Shambhu Dahal, vice president of Nepal Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), said, adding: “Such schemes contribute to almost 20 percent of annual sales of automobile dealers.”

Hyundai recently announced its festive scheme entitled 'Hyundai Festive Delight'. Under this scheme, customers will get cash discount of up to Rs 600,000 on purchase of any Hyundai vehicles. Through a lucky draw, Hyundai will also offer one tola (11.664 grams) of gold to 100 lucky buyers. Similarly, one lucky buyer will drive home a Hyundai Elite i20 as a bumper prize.

“Customers often tend to wait for festive occasions to buy vehicles when different brands come with attractive offers,” Awashis Ojha, senior marketing manager of Laxmi Intercontinental -- the authorized distributor of Hyundai vehicles for Nepal, said. Ojha further added that such schemes during festivals have been helping to boost sale of Hyundai vehicles significantly.

Likewise, Japanese automotive brand Datsun is also introducing special scheme for the festive season as soon as possible. “So far, we have been continuing the scheme that we launched for our customers at the NADA Auto Show. However, we will soon bring a new scheme, targeting the festive buyers,” Sandeep Sharda, director of Pioneer Moto Corp -- the distributor of Datsun vehicles for Nepal, said.

Similarly, two-wheeler brands like Bajaj and UM have also introduced festive schemes. Under 'Cash Wish' offer announced last month, people buying Bajaj motorbikes will get sure-shot cash discounts from Rs 6,000 to Rs 100,000.

IME Automotives, the authorized distributor of UM bikes, is launching its festive scheme this Saturday. Kapil Shivakoti, CEO of IME Automotives, said customers will get sure-shot cash discounts from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 on purchase of different UM motorbikes.
