Mugling-Pokhara road expansion: Nine kilometers blacktopped in...
So far, workers have completed only 20 percent of the work. They are currently cutting walls and installing barriers towards the river. In the Kurintar area, they are working on the base and sub-base for the asphalt road.
The expansion work is underway on the 39-kilometer road section from Mugling to Malekhu. Crews are constructing a two-lane, 9-meter wide road in areas that are narrow and challenging for wall-cutting and building barriers.
In uphill areas, engineers are constructing a three-lane road, 12 meters wide, covering nearly 1.5 kilometers.
In market areas such as Kurintar, Charoudi, Bishaltar, Chumlingtar, and Majhimmat, workers are building a four-lane road, 18 meters wide, over about 6 kilometers. In the markets of Muglin, Benighat, and Malekhu, they are constructing a six-lane road, 26 meters wide.
They are constructing a wider road over more than 1 kilometer. The Nagdhunga-Muglin road section, part of the Prithvi Highway, is being upgraded by dividing it into two parts.
The World Bank supports the road construction. The construction company signed a contract worth Rs 4.80 billion to do the work.
As a major road for entering and exiting the federal capital, the road experiences high traffic volume. Due to delays in the work, travelers using this road have faced difficulties.
