The eight-month-long Nava Durga Nach at Bhaktapur municipality -9, Suryamadi has begun from today. The Nach that will be exhibited in Bhaktapur and many others areas of Kathmandu is set to continue till the Bhal bhal Ashtami of Shrawan.
BHAKTAPUR, Dec 23: A strange ritual was performed in Bhaktapur by offering jars (ghyampo) to God. The offering was offered in the ancient Durga temples. The ritual was performed by Khaitu families of Bhaktapur.

BHAKTAPUR, Aug 26: Every year the Newar community celebrates Budhabaare Mela as a part of the Gunla Parva. The festival – celebrated in the 9th month of the Newari calendar – began on August 12 this year. Budhabaare Mela, which is also known as ‘Pemha Dyo Mhasika Wonegu’ in Nepal Bhasa, translates to familiarizing with four gods.

Bhaktapur Municipality becomes the first municipality in Nepal to introduce local curriculum in school level. With the start of a new academic session, both private and government schools have included local syllabus as a part of the academic curriculum. At present, the curriculum focuses on five subjects -- culture, art, and heritage, history of local skills and technology, local tourism, and local sports of Bhaktapur.
