The festival runs for eight months and concludes on the day of Bhalbhal Astami in the Nepali month of Shrawan. The first day of the Nava Durga Gana dance was showcased at Suryamadhi, ward number 9, Bhaktapur. Nava Durga Gana dance is also known as Angalakegu, which means catching fish in Newari language. However, the dance does not include any act of fishing.
