Kalanki incident takes new turn, two guns seized not used in incident

Two guns believed to have been used by an unidentified group who opened fire on the house of former under-secretary Bishnu Prasad Sharma on Monday evening were reportedly not used in the incident. Police who reached Sharma’s house following the incident found a bullet with a size of 2.22 mm.

Polygamy cases on rise in Karnali state

According to the statistics of the Karnali State Police Office(KSPO), 209 complaints of polygamy were lodged during the last three financial years. The KSPO statistics show that 111 complaints of polygamy were lodged at the police headquarters of Karnali province in the last fiscal year 2018/19 which is nearly two times greater than the number of complaints lodged in the corresponding period 2017/18 fiscal year.

I will resign if I fail to live up to people’s expectations: Tourism Minister Bhattarai

Newly appointed minister for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai said that he will step back if he fails to live up to people's expectations. Speaking to media persons today in the capital, Bhattarai said he would apprise them of his detailed plan he wants to implement as a tourism minister. "I will sign a work contract with the PM and make public my work plans soon,", Bhattarai said.

Unidentified group opens fire on Samajbadi local leader in Kapilbastu

An unidentified gang has opened fire on a local leader of Samajbadi Party Nepal in the district on Thursday. Ram Nayar Yadav, 40, a resident of Shuddhodhan rural municipality-5, Bichauwapur has sustained an injury on his shoulder in the incident. Yadav is a member of the district working committee of the party. He is now in Taulihawa-based party office after undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

Rouhani says 'childish' of U.S. to sanction Iran foreign minister Zarif

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani accused the United States of “childish behavior” and acting out of fear on Thursday after Washington imposed sanctions on Iran’s foreign minister amid rising tensions between the two countries. The United States on Wednesday imposed sanctions on Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, blocking any property or interests he has in the United States. But Zarif said he had none.

No handshake as Australia win toss and bat at fortress Edgbaston
