Asta Laxmi Shakya to be appointed CM of Bagmati Province

KATHMANDU, August 18: A senior leader of the CPN-UML, Asta Laxmi Shakya is all set to become the next Chief Minister (CM) of Bagmati Province.
After Dor Mani Poudel resigned as the leader of the UML’s parliamentary party of Bagmati Province, Shakya is likely to be the next CM of the province, according to sources.
Shakya has been serving as the deputy CM of Bagmati Province and is considered close to the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction of the UML.
Shakya is set to be the next CM of Bagmati in the wake of the Nepal-led faction’s decision to register a new party.
