KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Bagmati Province Chief Minister Asta Laxmi Shakya has expanded the Cabinet today, inducting six ministers and four ministers of state into her Cabinet. In the expanded Cabinet, Rachana Khadka, Bijay Subedi, Shanti Prasad Poudel, Pradip Kumar Katuwal have been appointed as ministers for Economic Affairs and Planning; Social Development; and Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment and Health, respectively.


Similarly, Chandra Lama has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Land Management and Agricultural Cooperatives while Dr Ajay Kranti Shakya has been appointed as the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law.

Meanwhile, Jivan Khadka, Junelimaya Shrestha, Saraswati Bati and Badri Mainali have been appointed as ministers of state. Khadka has been appointed as the Minister of State for Physical Infrastructure Development, Shrestha as the Minister of State for Social Development, Bati as the Minister of State for Industries and Mainali as the Minister of State for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives.


The newly appointed ministers have taken oath of office and secrecy. 


While appointing the ministers, those who stayed in the mother party- CPN (UML) have been given a priority. In Bagmati Province, 13 out of 56 CPN-UML members of parliament have chosen the newly registered CPN (Unified Socialist) party.
