Bagmati Province Chief asks provincial assembly members to stake claim to post of CM by 3PM tomorrow

KATHMANDU, Oct 27: Yadav Chandra Sharma, chief of Bagmati Province, has called on the provincial assembly members to stake claim to the post of chief minister (CM) of Bagmati Province which remains vacant following the resignation of CM Asta Laxmi Shakya earlier on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, Oct 27: Yadav Chandra Sharma, chief of Bagmati Province, has called on the provincial assembly members to stake claim to the post of chief minister (CM) of Bagmati Province which remains vacant following the resignation of CM Asta Laxmi Shakya earlier on Wednesday.


The Office of the Province Chief, Bagmati Province, issued a notice calling upon the members of the Provincial Assembly to claim the post of CM by 3 PM tomorrow (Thursday). “The members of the Provincial Assembly who have a majority in support of two or more parties represented in the assembly have been requested to submit their claim to the chief minister,” the notice reads.

Chief Minister Asta Laxmi Shakya resigned from her post on Wednesday. Chief Minister Shakya submitted her resignation to the province chief shortly after addressing the Provincial Assembly meeting. Shakya was appointed as the chief minister of Bagmati Province 71 days ago following the split of CPN-UML.


Shakya had fallen in minority right from the day she was appointed as the chief minister. She claimed that she had effectively run the government despite running a minority government.
