Local forest conservation group protests Pathibhara Cable Car construction in the capital (Photo Feature)

The forest area, called Mukkumlung by the locals, is considered a sacred place.

KATHMANDU, Jan 4: Various associations involved in the protection of the forest area surrounding Pathibhara temple in Taplejung organized a demonstration against the construction of a cable car in the area. The forest area, called Mukkumlung by the locals, is considered a sacred place.   


Organizations dedicated to Mukkumlung protection held a protest against the colonization and encroachment of Mukkumlung in Taplejung district with the rally from Maitighar to Baneshwor on Saturday.

They demonstrated holding placards and with slogans that read ‘no cable cars on indigenous land’, ‘give back indigenous lands and save Mukkumlung’, ‘indigenous land back', ‘stop state terrorism’.
