KATHMANDU, April 20:The Asian World Film Festival invites filmmakers from Nepal to be part of the festival by submitting their films.

Forty-eight countries across Asia, including Laos, Turkey, Afghanistan and Japan will be participating in the festival which is an attempt to 'strengthen ties between the Asian and Hollywood film industries.'

The festival will last for a week, beginning from October 27, at the Landmark Theaters in Los Angeles, USA.

Through the festival, the audience will be able to watch various independent films made by talented filmmakers across Asia. The participating films will be getting the opportunity to be guided in the awards season by the organizers of the festival. Support from these organizers will help filmmakers get the chance to screen their films to prestigious film associations like the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and the Academy Awards.

In the press release, festival chairman and creator Sadyk Sher-Niyaz is quoted as saying, "I created the Asian World Film Festival to fill a void that I noticed was missing in America. There is a wealth of underrated filmmakers from our region who deserve recognition, and this festival was designed to champion and promote them."

At the most, two films from each country will be selected. Submissions will be accepted from May 13. Log on to www.asianworldfilmfest.org/submissions for details.
