According to the NA Directorate of Public Relations, a meeting of NA Welfare Fund Management Committee held at the army headquarters reached an agreement in principle to establish the board according to the Military Act 2063. [break]
According to NA spokesperson Brigadier General Jagdish Chandra Pokhrel, the board will further a plan to expand welfare funds throughout the country for the benefits of the families of the retired and serving staff.
The board will also explore the new areas of investments and resources to strengthen the welfare funds.
The army has been riddled in controversies over its transparency and misuse of the fund over the recent years. With the establishment of the board, the NA will not better serve the dependent families of the army staff but also discourage such controversies, a NA official said.
The board is being formed as per a command guidance issued by CoAS Gaurav Shumsher Rana.
