Amid public pressure, KMC dismantles illegal structures built at Khullamanch



Kathmandu Metropolitan City demolished 52 illegal structures built at Khulla Manch at the heart of the Capital, on Saturday. The move comes amid pressure from multiple quarters including local residents against the construction of those structures for business purposes.


NCP leader Bishnu Poudel purchased land legally : Minister Aryal



Minister for Land Reform and Management Padma Kumari Aryal has said that the government will not seize the land purchased by the ruling Nepal Communist Party General Secretary Bishnu Paudel at Lalita Niwas arguing that the land was transferred in the name of Poudel’s son Nabin from the land owner legally.

Unknown disease kills eight in Humla



Eight people have died due to an unknown disease in Tanjakot rural municipality of Humla. More than a dozen others have been taken ill. "Eight people have died as of Friday due to the disease that spread since the past week", said health worker at the Maila Health Post, Moti Lal Joshi.


Three killed in separate road accidents



Three people died in separate road accidents that took place in Saptari along the East-West Highway today. One person died and eight others were injured when a passenger bus overturned after hitting a truck at Ward no. 9 of Kanchanrup municipality.


Fifteen killed in Sri Lanka in shootout with suspected Islamist militants



The bodies of 15 people, including six children, were discovered at the site of a fierce overnight gun battle on the east coast of Sri Lanka, a military spokesman said on Saturday, six days after suicide bombers killed more than 250 people.
