Three killed in separate road accidents

RAJBIRAJ, April 27: Three people died in separate road accidents that took place in Saptari along the East-West Highway today. One person died and eight others were injured when a passenger bus overturned after hitting a truck at Ward no. 9 of Kanchanrup municipality.

The bus (Na.5 Kha. 7937) was heading towards the east when it hit the truck (Ko.1Kha.4123), also heading towards the same direction. The bus lost control after hitting the truck and then hit a tea shop on the roadside, killing a person who was waiting for his cup of tea. Dev Narayan Mahato,65, of ward no. 8 of the same municipality died on the spot, according to the District Police Office.

The injured are undergoing treatment at the Dharmeswar hospital in Rupnagar, according to Superintendent of Police Rajendra Bista. Also today, a pedestrian died after being hit by a motorcycle at ward no 7 of Khadka municipality. Chutharu Das,70, was severely injured in the incident and died during treatment at the local polyclinic, police said.

Likewise, a motorcyclist died after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a passenger bus. Shanker Paghaiya,22, of Portaha in ward no. 3 of Kankalini municipality was killed in the incident when his motorcycle (Ko.15Pa. 5545) was hit by the bus (Ko.1Ja.3562), the Area Police Office, Bhardaha said. Paghaiya succumbed to his injuries at the Bhardaha hospital. RSS
