APF storms into final

MORANG, March 9: Departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) stormed into the final of Rumpum Birat Gold Cup Football Tournament defeating Durgapur Spat FC of Kolkata, India 4-0 in the semifinal held in Biratnagar, Morang on Saturday.



Ganesh Lawati, Santosh Shrestha, Nabin Lama and Deepak Khadka were all on target for the A division outfit that scored three goals after the interval.[break]



APF will now meet the winner of the second semifinal between Simrik Saraswati Youth Club and CMG Club Sankata to be played on Sunday.



APF dominated the show and kept Durgapur under immense pressure throughout the match. Besides scoring, APF also missed as many as half-a-dozen scoring chances.



Ganesh Lawati headed the opening goal in the 28th minute in Santosh Shrestha´s cross. Shrestha scored the second goal in the 70th minute in a pass set by Nabin Lama.



Lama made it 3-0 one minute before the end of regulation time and Deepak Khadka added the fourth during the stoppage time.



APF´s Santosh Shrestha was declared the man-of-the-match and was awarded Rs 5,000.
