KATHMANDU, Aug 29: Gagan Thapa, General Secretary of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC), has stated that anyone who makes a mistake should fall within the scope of disciplinary action.
Speaking on Nagarik Frontline on Wednesday, Thapa expressed this view, emphasizing that he does not believe in protecting mistakes just because they were made by someone from his own party.
A Tribute to PL Dai: A beacon of selfless service
“My belief is that anyone who makes a mistake or shows weakness, regardless of which party they belong to—be it a leader from NC, UML, a brother (Dai), sister-in-law (Bhauju), uncle, or elder sister—must face disciplinary action,” Gagan said.
He added that he personally bears the brunt of criticism for taking this stance. “When I say that anyone making a mistake within my party must be punished, that person gets extremely angry with me,” he said. “I have experienced this firsthand. Even newcomers end up criticizing me.”
However, he asserted that he remains steadfast in his belief. “I am firm on this matter,” he said. “I have not backed down, and I am not afraid of others not backing down either.”
