CARACAS, Sept 22: According to an official report from the Vietnam News Agency, President Tran Dai Quang died on Friday in a military hospital at 10:05 a.m. local time.
The Vietnamese president died from a "serious illness despite efforts by domestic and international doctors and professors," Vietnam Television reported. He served as Vietnam's president since 2016.

Local media sources said President Quang was in critical condition and had received treatment from medical teams from Vietnam and from international teams.
President Quang, who was born in the Quang Thien Commune, Kim Son District, Ninh Binh Province in northern Vietnam, held a Ph.d. in law.
The late head of state graduated from the People's Police University and the School of Foreign Languages, and also held different positions in public service. Quang served as Minister of Public Security from August 2011 to March 2016 and was part of the Party's Central Committee, a decision-making body, as well as a delegate of the National Assembly.
