“Any particular community, settlement, village, local unit, district and even province can be declared a pocket area if the virus is reported there.  During a lockdown, import and export of goods will not be allowed except for the emergency items,” said Devkota adding that land border points of the country will also be closed.

He said the government has made the necessary arrangements for equipment and skilled manpower needed to fight the coronavirus. “If necessary, mobile hospitals will also be set up in collaboration with the private sector,” he said.

He further informed that the government is prepared to cope with the situation if there is an outbreak of COVID-19 in Nepal.

“Medical teams have been deployed to 43 border points of the country.”
