A representative from FIFA has arrived in Kathmandu to monitor the election process in line with FIFA guideline, which, among others, calls for the election of a 17-member executive committee in every member association. [break]
However, ANFA has not amended its provisional statute and has decided to go with its jumbo executive committee, as decided by its last general assembly.
As per ANFA statute, the executive committee will be of 39 members, including eight nominated officials.
In order to solve the crisis, ANFA President Ganesh Thapa has called an emergency meeting on Friday.
Sixty aspirants have filed their candidacies for the executive body of ANFA. President Thapa, who is serving his sixth four-year tenure, is the only unopposed candidate.
The date for filing candidacy has already expired on Wednesday.
