‘Amity: A collective painting exhibition’ showcasing diversity

A group painting exhibition titled ‘Amity: A collective painting exhibition’ by artists from four Asian nations kicked off on Saturday at Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Naxal.

A group painting exhibition titled ‘Amity: A collective painting exhibition’ by artists from four Asian nations kicked off on Saturday at Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Naxal.


International Watercolor Society, Nepal (IWS-Nepal) organized the exhibition in association with NAFA. A total of 80 artists from Bangladesh (11), India (15) and China (11) have shared same space with Nepali artists in the exhibition. “Through arts, we have tried to strengthen the relationship between the participating countries,” the organizer said.



The exhibition features more than 80 paintings where artist DB Rai, one of the participants shared, “Since this is an international event, it’s a good way to show the skill and get interaction along with networking. Then, the exhibition has enabled an artist like me to learn from the art style of other fellow participating artists.”

In the exhibition, one can witness different style of painting along with the way of narrating stories through motifs and colors. For example, one of the artists, Suresh Syangtan has painted Pashupatinath temple which is one of the famous pagoda style temple in Nepal.


Likewise, Indian painters have also used Nepali temples as their subject in their art. One of them, Vikrant Sitol has painted temples of Basantapur Durbar Square affected by earthquake. Likewise, another Indian artist, Mahon Jadar has painted monuments and architectural beauty of Patan. Meanwhile, the artists from Bangladesh and China have used different subject matter as their motifs such as nature and animals.
