According to the company, Alto has remained the largest selling car in both India and Nepal ever since its launch in 2001.
“We´ve been receiving lots of enquiries for Alto 800. But the car will be available in Nepal only in March,” Sunil Chhetri, deputy general manager of CG Automobiles, told Republica.[break]
Customers can find lots of changes in the Alto 800 under its hood. There is a new plastic intake system instead of aluminum, a new lighter crankshaft, a new cylinder head, new piston rings and a new gearbox. All this combined boosts the output to maximum power of 48PS at 6000 rpm and maximum torque of 69Nm at 3500 rpm which is an 11 percent increase from the previous model, according to the company.
Chhetri said customers can notice three major differences in the performance of the new Alto compared to the previous one. “First is the power delivery, which comes a bit earlier than before. This is quite beneficial when the customer´s drive onto highways,” Chhetri said, adding, “Secondly, the increased torque output makes it much easier to move this car in city traffic and lastly the new cable type shifter in the gearbox has made the gear transitions much smoother.”
The petrol variant of the new delivers a mileage of 22.7 km per liter, up by 15 percent compared to the older model. Besides, the use of new generation engine and transmission lubricants in the Alto 800 helps reduce frictional losses and further enhances its performance, according to the company.
The Alto 800 is equipped with various features like 3-spoke steering wheel, enhanced seat fabric and design, 15 mm higher roof and rear leg room enhanced by 15 mm, full wheel cover, body colored bumper, can holder, remote tail gate opener, coin holder, front power windows, digital clock integrated speedometer and internally adjustable Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVM), among others.
According to the company, the car will be available in six eye-catching shades -- frost blue, granite grey, superior white, blazing red, silky silver and torque blue.
“We don´t know how much the car will cost here. We will fix the price only after we get the cars here,” said Chhetri.
