KATHMANDU, July 14: Various alliances and associations have urged the government to address pressing demands that have caught attention of the country; the fast unto death of Dr. Govinda KC, Ganga Maya’s search for justice and removing prohibitory orders on selected protest areas.
The supporters argue that such intolerance from the government was against state’s promise to guarantee human rights and freedom of expression enshrined in the Nepali constitution. It also deterred anyone from seeking justice.
To pressurize the government, the alliances have called for a mass gathering at Maitighar Mandala at 12 PM today. The alliances include solidarity groups for Dr. KC, Save Ganga Maya, Nepal Medical Association, Nepal Bar Association, Nepal University Teacher’s Association, Nepal Engineers Association, Ayurveda Association of Nepal, Doctors’ Society of Nepal, Nepal Nursing Union, Public Defense Alliance among others.
