Mandala is a spiritual symbol special to Hinduism and Buddhism. Mandala literally means “circle” in Sanskrit and it is seen in religious texts and architecture in most regions of Asia. Nowadays, mandalas and thangkas have become a well-known art form here in Nepal as well as all over the world, thanks to their intricate details and colors. Sukriti Bhatta, an aspiring artist who specializes in mandala making, confesses that she is fascinated by the art form and wants to pursue it as more than just a hobby.

English-language play, ‘Brief Candle’ is moving to Mandala Theatre, Anamnagar on Tuesday after showcasing in Ullens School this past weekend.

‘Antigone’ in Mandala Theatre

KATHMANDU: Mandala Theatre an among has been showcasing ‘Antigone’ since Friday. The drama is an adaptation of a tragedy written by Sophocles in around 441 BC. What makes this Mandala Theatre production unique is that the adaptations were strictly based on the medium of expression. Within an hour and a half, the drama made spectators laugh, empathize and at times even shed a few tears.

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: National Private and Boarding Schools’ Association Nepal (N-PABSAN) today has protested against the proposed education regulations prepared by the Ministry of education at Maitighar Mandal in the capital.

Mandala Theater at Anamnagar is staging ‘Manchinte Firante’ from July 22 to August 6. Based on the famous children’s book by author Leo Lionni, the Nepali adaptation is done by poet Viplop Pratik and Mandala’s Somnath Khanal.
