KATHMANDU, Sept 27: Dr Prakasharan Mahat, spokesperson for the ruling Nepali Congress (NC), has claimed that the activities of the leaders of the Shekhar Koirala faction in the party lack discipline and that they will be brought under the ambit of action.

Spokesperson Dr Mahat held a press conference at the party office on Tuesday and warned other leaders of the party not to organize gatherings and protest programs that are against the party's discipline and system.

He said that the list of proportional candidates for the upcoming elections has been prepared unanimously by discussing with all the leaders and there is nothing to make a fuss about it now. He said that everyone should follow the discipline and system of the party and those who do not will be punished according to the rules of the party.

The meeting of the Shekhar faction held on Monday had announced a sit-in program at the party office. The meeting decided to hold a sit-in program for one hour from 12 noon to 1 AM at the party central office in Sanepa on September 28. The meeting also decided to unveil more protest programs if the proportional list of the party’s candidates is not amended by September 30.

The rival faction has alleged that President Deuba unilaterally picked the names of party’s PR candidates from among his loyals while denying a fair share to the party’s rival faction led by Dr Koirala.
