According to police, an unidentified group had abducted 21-year-old Bikram Sahani, 21, of Sarpallo VDC - 7 on Friday evening from Sahasaula VDC-6 while he was on his way home from Pokharbhinda Bazaar. He was a fish-seller. [break]
His body was found on a side of the road at Sahasaula -5. Immediately after whisking him away, the kidnappers had been demanding a huge ransom for his release. Sahani´s family members had reported the case to the police.
Though his body was recovered on Sunday, the District Police Office (DPO) believes that he was killed by the kidnappers two days ago. "Preliminary investigation shows that he was killed two days ago and thrown on the road side," said a police officer.
Sahani´s family have, meanwhile, accused that the police´s negligence led to his death. “We had informed the police immediately after he was kidnapped, but the police did not do anything to save him,” said a family member. Sahani had recently got married.
The Superintendent of Police at the DPO, Ram Prasad Thapaliya, who recently got transferred to the district, said the police are investigating the case.
He said the main motive behind the crime seem to create a terror among people in the district. The DPO has already prepared a policy to reduce criminal activities.
Various armed groups had opened fire at four persons in Manhara VDC a few weeks ago. An unidentified armed outfit also shot a leader of Madhesi People´s Right Forum-Nepal last week.
