KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The Ministry of General Administration has started sudden inspection of government offices so as to ensure that no government employee is absent during office hours.
On Friday, a team led by Minister for General Administration Rabindra Shrestha conducted a sudden check at his ministry, the Kathmandu District Administration Office and Civil Service Record Keeping Office, Harihar Bhawan, Lalitpur, on Friday.
The team which comprised Shrestha, State Minister Jeetu Gautam, and Joint Secretaries Chandra Ghimire and Shiva Bahadur Rayamajhi made a surprise check at the offices soon after the offices opened at 10 am.

The ministry also deputed another team to inspect Civil Service Record Keeping Office at Harihar Bhawan.
The inspection drive is aimed at ensuring that government employees come to office on time and carry out their duty upholding professional integrity and honesty.
The team found 11 civil servants, including four section officers, absent at the DAO. Similarly, around 60 staff including Director General Chandi Prasad Dahal and Deputy Director Sudha Neupane were absent at the Civil Service Record Keeping Office.
Likewise, 27 staff -- two under secretaries, 13 section officers and 12 junior staff -- were absent at the ministry.
This is the first time a minister himself has made inspection visits to government offices to ensure effective delivery of government services.
