Tractor accident in Pyuthan kills seven

PYUTHAN, July 19: Seven persons were killed in a tractor accident in Swargadwari Municipality-3 Saturday night.

The incident took place at around 11PM when the tractor (Lu 2 Cha 4234) skidded off the road in Rumale area and plunged 500 meters down into a gorge.

The tractor was en route to Bhingri from Dharampani of Swargadwari. The deceased have yet to be identified, according to Narendra Kumar Karki, Deputy Superintendent of Police of the District Police Office, Pyuthan.

"All the passengers, except for one, died on the spot," he said.  

The deceased were construction workers working in the Bhingri-Swargadwari road project.

"One person has survived from the accident. His identity is still unknown," Poudel said.

Bad weather has prevented the authorities from carrying out rescue operations. "Details are coming in as the incident happened Saturday night," Poudel added.
