Seven persons killed in Pyuthan road accident identified

PYUTHAN, July 19: All the seven persons who lost their lives in a tractor accident at Swargadwari Municipality-3 Saturday night have been identified.

According to Narendra Kumar Karki, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Pyuthan, all those killed in the road accident were laborers involved in the construction of Bhingri-Swargadwari road.

They all were from Rolpa District. Six laborers — 21-year-old Sagar Basnet, 24-year-old Rim Bahadur Basnet, 25-year-old Kabiram Basnet, 19-year-old Birendra Batha Magar, 19-year-old Thaman Batha Magar and Gobardhan Budha Magar (age not known) were from Runtigadhi Rural Municipality of Rolpa. Likewise, the driver, 25-year-old Kamal Kunwar, was from Triveni Municipality of Rolpa.

Of the eight persons travelling in the ill-fated tractor on Saturday night, one person has luckily survived.

The incident took place at around 11PM when the tractor (Lu 2 Cha 4234) skidded off the road in Rumale area and plunged 500 meters down into a gorge.
