9 invigilators suspended, 7 students expelled

KATHMANDU, March 31: Apart from a few undesirable incidents, the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations were conducted smoothly across the nation, on Thursday, the first day of the exam.


Nine invigilators from exam centers in different districts, including Mahottari, Rautahat and Okhaldhunga, have been suspended for their involvement in unethical activities on Thursday, said Krishna Prasad Kapri, controller of the OCE.

"Similarly seven students from the Mahotari district were rusticated for cheating in the eaminations," Kapri added. There are 1,943 exam centres across the nation set for the exams. "The exam will continue smoothly in all the centers on Friday too," said Kapri.


Meanwhile, no untoward incidents were reported from exam centers in the Kathmandu Valley. While 615,553 students had applied to appear in the exams, the number of absentees is yet to be updated and confirmed, according to the Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE).
