KATHMANDU, May 19: The Election Commission (EC) has stated that counting of 80 percent votes cast during the local level election has been already completed.
Speaking at a regular press conference on Thursday, EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel said that the counting of 80 percent votes has been completed and the results of 570 local level elections have been already announced so far.

According to Poudel, a total of 29,303 candidates including 174 mayors, 174 for deputy mayors, 396 rural municipality chairpersons, 396 vice chairpersons, 5,659 ward chairpersons, 5,653 women members, 5,556 Dalit women members and 1,295 ward members have been elected so far.
Poudel said that re-polling is scheduled to be held on May 20 in Saphebgar of Achham, where the election scheduled for May 13 was put off amid conflict among parties. He also mentioned that a decision is yet to be taken by the EC regarding re-election in Triyuga municipality-12 in Udayapur district and Budhiganga Municipality in Bajura district.
Spokesperson Poudel said that the counting of votes will be completed within four days at most after re-election is held in those local levels.
