ILAM, Oct 20: The incessant rain for about 40 hours has caused a great loss of life and property in Ilam. As of Wednesday morning, eight people have been killed and seven others are missing in the district.
Sarita Acharya, 45, of Deumai Municipality-2 died after being swept away by a flood while returning from her maternal home. She was returning home from her maternal home in Sandakpur Rural Municipality-2, Maimzhuwa.
Post-Earthquake Livestock Management
According to District Police Office chief, Superintendent of Police (SP) Mahendra Shrestha, 30-year-old Bina Sharma (Lawati) of Fakphokathum Rural Municipality-1, Thingepur, 14-year-old Aait Bahadur Rai, 35-year-old Randhata Thapa (Katwal) of Fakphokathum-3, Salleri, 15-year-old Nishan Katwal, 12-year-old Nishit Katwal, Suryodaya Municipality-1. Narayan Motey, 49, of the district has died in a landslide.
Similarly, Bishal Tamang of Betini of Mai Municipality-3 died after being hit by a tree. Nain Singh Katwal, 86, of Fakphokathum Municipality-3, two women of Suryodaya Municipality-3 and four people of Mangsebung Municipality-6 are missing in the landslide. SP Shrestha said that search and rescue of flood and landslide victims is underway.
