76.7 percent patients win COVID-19 in Nepal as case tally soars to 168,235

The country reports the highest single-day COVID-19 recoveries of 4,096

KATHMANDU, Oct 30: Nepal on Friday confirmed 3,517 new cases of COVID-19. Through the 14,989 real time PCR tests conducted in the past 24 hours, 2,156 males and 1,361 females tested positive for the virus, according to the Ministry of Health and Population. 

With this, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally has jumped to 168,235 since the first case - a China-returnee student - was detected on January 23 this year. 

The country also recorded the highest single-day recoveries of 4,096 COVID-19 patients in the last one day taking the total number of recoveries to 128,958 which accounts for 76.7 percent of the total cases confirmed so far. 

The ministry also reported 16 more deaths linked with this viral disease taking the total number of deaths to 920. Nepal witnessed the first COVID-19 death on May 16. 

As of Friday afternoon, 38,357 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment being isolated either at their homes or at institutional isolation centers. 

The country has so far carried out 1,434,053 RT-PCR tests to confirm the infection of COVID-19. 

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,888 new cases --1107 males and 781 females -- in the past 24 hours. The Valley, where lies Nepal’s federal capital, has record a total of 74,891 cases as of Friday afternoon, of which the highest number of cases --- 60,742-- have been reported in Kathmandu district
