COVID-19: 109 new cases reported in past 24 hours, taking national tally to 18,483; Recovery tally reaches 13,053

KATHMANDU, July 25: As many as 109 new cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been reported in the last 24 hours in Nepal. With this, the total number of coronavirus infections in Nepal has reached 18,483.

According to Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), a total of 339,147 real time PCR tests have been carried out till Saturday including 4,075 in the last one day.

Speaking during the virtual media briefing of the ministry Dr Gautam said that 106 COVID-19 patients have returned home after recovery in the past 24 hours, taking the recovery tally to 13,053. This accounts for 70.6 percent of the total infections.

As of Saturday, there are 5,385 active cases.

Nepal has recorded one more case of fatality due to COVID-19 infection on Saturday. A 17-year-old female from Parwarnipur-8, Bara, died of this disease on Friday evening while undergoing treatment at the Gandak COVID-19 Hospital in Birgunj.  With this, 45 patients have succumbed to this disease, according to the MoHP.

Six districts--- Panchthar, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Rasuwa Manang and Mustang-- have so far reported zero cases of COVID-19, according to Dr Gautam.
