The torrential rainfall since 11:00 pm last night caused the havocs at three different places of the Khimti VDC. The flooded Khahare rivulet caused landslide at the border of Ward No 1 and 2 of the VDC and swept away a house belonging to Ram Bahadur Budhathoki, killing Bhim Bahadur Tamang, 55, his wife Batuli, 45, and 75-year-old mother. They were living in rent at Budhathoki´s home.[break]
Similarly, Dhalke Tamang went missing in the havoc.
In another incident occurred at Ward No. 4 of Khimti VDC, a house belonging to Sher Bahadur Thapa was collapsed by a landslide, killing 55-year-old Mithu Thapa, 22-year-old Swasthani Thapa and 12-year-old Kedar Thapa.
Moreover, Sita Sunuwar, 13, from Ward No. 3 died after her house caved in owing to heavy rainfall.
Seven persons injured in landslides have been undergoing treatment at a health post of Kirne in the district. Those injured in the landslides were Aimala Tamang, Maimala Tamang, Hem Bahadur Tamang, Rita Gajmer, Bharat Thapa and one other.
Five houses at Khimti bazaar were damaged by the floods.
The landslide and floods occurred all of a sudden at night, so we could not save properties but life, said Sabitri Pokhrel.
The Khimti road section of the Pushpalal Highway has been damaged with landslide thereby disrupting the transportation.
Chief District Officer Gopal Prasad Parajuli and security chiefs in the district have taken stock of the situation.
The places of havocs lie 15 km away from district headquarters Manthali.
